Probably the most overlooked computer maintenance tool is the registry cleaner. Not only is it a somewhat unknown entity, it also gets a bad rap from some people who either don’t know how to use it properly and just don’t have an understanding of how a Windows registry works.
I will use this article to make a case in favor of registry cleaners because I know their use is important in fighting off registry corruption. Also, I will talk about just what registry corruption can do to an operating system and how it can hinder normal computer operations.
Windows Registries Corrupt Easily
Registry corruption exists and registry cleaners fix this corruption. I know this because I make a living repairing broken computers and I have seen corruption bring a computer to its knees. I have used registry cleaners many times to remove corruption and get these badly performing computers back up and speeding down the information highway again.
How do I know registries cleaners need to be used? The answer is simple. Because registries do become corrupted and when they do, the computer’s performance will inevitably suffer, maybe even to the point of becoming nonfunctional.
Registry Cleaners Are Necessary Today
It is true, registry corruption wasn’t very much of a consideration a few years back. However, now with the huge file systems Windows XP and Vista operate under, it takes a long times for one operation to take place when it has to work through corruption. I know this may not make sense, but one piece of corruption will probably only affect a small area of a small operating system. However, the same amount of corruption will affect many ares in a large operating system. That is just the way it is.
The first signs of registry corruption is a slowing computer. Of course, spyware and viruses also will cause a computer to slow down as well, but if a computer is free of these parasites, a slow computer is usually caused by registry corruption.
Why Not Clean the Registry
I don’t know what these people who think registry cleaners are useless do when their computers slow down and spyware or viruses are not the problem. In my experience, when this situation occurs, it is always registry corruption causing the problem. I personally, don’t know how I’d get along without a registry cleaner.
So when a computer is not performing properly and it is shown to be free of viruses and spyware, the next thing you should do is scan the registry. Many time I have seen it be the case where a computer is operating very poorly and there are no incidents of spyware of viruses and turns out the registry is full of corruption.
Of course, if there is no registry corruption, you will have to bring the computer to a professional. However, I have fixed many a sick computer with a registry cleaning, so I suggest you make sure you have no corruption before you bring your computer to somebody like me.
