If you try to follow blogs and forums, many experts talk about the system registry and the utilization of registry cleaning software. Some will recommend not using registry cleaner but at the same time they will say that your registry will build up lots of junk over the course of time. So in the end, it will still be suggested to use a good registry cleaner to scan your system, take away all the redundant files, and have an error-free machine that will not give you a headache!
You may ask, what is the best way to clean the registry? You can either do two things. First, use a registry scanning tool to detect the errors and repair them without any hassle at all. Or another option is to manually inspect and change registry values without much know-how and most probably by doing this you will add more damage to your system. Even the experts strongly advise against tweaking your registry manually because even they are not exactly sure as to the exact thing that they are doing. It is usually a trial and error thing method. One thing may not work so you have to revert to its previous state or else your computer might just suddenly not function.
Registry cleaners such as PC Mantra’s registry cleaner, Express registry cleaner, Window registry cleaner, and many more registry cleaning tools are special applications that are intended to scan the registry for entries and check the links to see if they are still connected to any other programs or if they are still used by the registry. If the scanner detects that the links are invalid and are no longer used, they are then removed from the system.
If these invalid entries are not eliminated, your system will read them every time you want to run a program, and when it comes across the missing link, then it will have to stop, thus causing delay of the processing of your request. Even there is only one missing entry or link, it will contribute to the worsening of your system. Imagine it has to read thousands of files in the registry and the addition of one more invalid link will slow it down since your system has to read it.
These broken links came from inappropriate installation of some programs. Some came from exclusion of viruses that were erased by your antivirus and antispyware applications. These missing links cannot be just removed easily and you need a registry cleaner in order to do this. It is not required to scan your registry everyday but clean it at least every six months or so.
Registry cleaners are not infallible. That is why most good registry cleaners have back up utilities so that when it, by accident, removes a file that is still being used by the system, you can easily restore it.
