The following is a list of tools that will provide the user with everything they need to turn the social networking site Twitter into a funnel of traffic for their site.
http://tweetmeme.com/ - which lists popular Tweets as well as offering a retweet button for your site pages.
http://www.monitter.com/ - Lets you stream tweets from three different topics in real time onto your screen. This is really useful, especially for news events.
http://twitturly.com/ - a tool that tracks a makes a list of the top web addresses that people are talking about on Twitter. This is a good way of seeing who’s talking about your site.
http://www.tweetlater.com ” this allows you to make tweets and set them up to be published on Twitter later that day or that week. This has both advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes, if people dont think youre posting your tweets live and you’ve just got some system to do it for you, then they can get annoyed and sometimes stop following you. However for the sake of having your tweets spread out and not in bursts all at once may be worth the risk.
http://klout.net/ - this allows you to measure how big your influence is within Twitter.
http://twittercounter.com/ - a tool to show you your Twitter stats as your following expands
http://tweetdeck.com/beta/ - Is my favourite tool for keeping up with twitter in real time.
http://www.twibes.com/twitter-groups - a brilliant tool for finding newsgroups (tribes ” twibes) to join and to find new people to follow.
http://www.twitterbackgrounds.com/ - a tool that provides free backgrounds for you to put on your Twitter page.
http://www.orangatame.com/products/twitterberry/ - a Blackberry app that allows you to tweet from your phone, like Stephen Fry recently did while stuck in a lift.
It is generally Twitter etiquette to follow back anyone who follows you, but it isn’t necessary. It is your responsibility to keep up your page as you see fit, but my suggestion would be to go for quality over quantity so that when you tweet, it is worth reading and people will keep on reading you future tweets.
You should concentrate on making regular tweets that you yourself would read if you saw them and that will build your Twitter following.
